Over the Easter weekend, there was plenty of eggciting fun to be had at Peterborough One Retail Park.
From cracking craft workshops to shell-shocking shows and animal antics to great giveaways, we were delighted to see so many happy bunnies making the most of the sunshine and our stores.
The retail park hosted two Easter-themed craft workshops on Friday 19th April and Saturday 20th April, tailormade for little ones of 3 years and over. These craft workshops were hosted by Crafty Crew and gave children the opportunity to try their hand at creative techniques, using specialist and high-quality paints and accessories.
On Friday, children hopped to the crafting station to design and decorate porcelain bunny money boxes and on Saturday, little ones could use plastic needles and woollen thread to make their own lamb, chick or bunny hand puppet.
Attendees gave great feedback following on from their crafting exploits. One parent said: “The crafting staff were very helpful, friendly and interested. Our children enjoyed the activity very much. They are usually very manic kids – good to see them work quietly and learn a new skill. It was a lovely activity. Thank you!”
Another said: “We come here often for crafting activities. The events are always enjoyed. Keep doing what you’re doing!”
And another parent added: “The team were very friendly and nice. There was a wide range of pens, paints and colours. Our boy had a lot of fun painting his rabbit.”
PE1’s social media followers were also invited to take part in a competition in association with the event, for the chance to win £50 to spend in PE1’s stores. Families could seek out hidden letters in selected stores around the retail park; the letters spelling out a secret word.
Upon finding all six letters, entry forms were then submitted to The Works. What’s more, PE1’s stores were choc-a-block with choccie treats to give the hunters sustenance during their search!
The secret word was ‘carrot’ and the winner – selected at random from the correct entries – was Molly Wilson. Molly’s nan came to The Works on Saturday to collect her £50 gift card.
Eggs on Legs
On Friday and Saturday, we also welcomed the comedy duo ‘Eggs on Legs’ to the park. Surreally silly, this duo was a smash with children and adults alike. Incredible, inedible and eggcellent entertainment, the walking egg and nutty chef made crowds titter and dance with their merriment and mayhem!
On Saturday 20th April, Van Hage’s Animal Farm officially opened! Families were invited to release their wild side and enjoy some animal antics with this adorable addition to the garden centre. The new attraction is free to browse and is home to rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, exotic birds, piglets and chickens.
Luke Hopkins, Van Hage’s Manager, said: “Our new Animal Farm was incredibly busy over the Easter weekend!”
Be sure to head to Van Hage each day to visit your new furry and feathered friends.
Peterborough One Retail Park’s Site Manager, Paul Dunn, says “The Easter weekend saw an increase in visitors to the park, due to the eggcellent entertainment on offer and the cracking offers in our stores. We’re delighted with all the positive feedback we received over the Bank Holiday weekend and we look forward to hosting more activities and shows over the summer months.”
