It’s fair to say that 2020 has been difficult for everyone, and as we wave goodbye to it – we can’t wait to see what the new year has to bring.

With vaccinations set to take place in the first half of 2021, everyone at Peterborough One Retail Park is looking toward the new year with optimism.

When reflecting on the past year, one simply cannot ignore the colossal impact that the coronavirus pandemic has had on people and businesses. Despite the hurdles endured – we are immensely proud of the resilience and ingenuity of our stores. We marvel at their ability to adapt and emerge successfully from 2020.

Even though it is a difficult time for the retail sector, we have also greeted several new and exciting tenants to the centre, including Inflata Nation, Kiss & Make Up and The Hebden School of Dance! These additions have proven extremely popular with visitors and we look forward to welcoming more in 2021.

Inflata Nation

At the beginning of 2020, we saw the opening of the first ever indoor inflatable theme park in the East of England. Constructed on an epic 14,500 sq ft site, Inflata Nation is fitted with super slides, a gigantic ball pool, dual wipeout zone, obstacle courses, a gladiator battle podium and a special ‘Inflata Bubbles’ section!

With a great café, a dedicated play area for under 4s – as well as private hire and party packages, catering for tots and people with disabilities, Inflata Nation truly has something for everyone! Although the indoor activity venue remains temporarily closed due to the ongoing pandemic – as the crisis subsides in the coming months, we can expect Inflata Nation to bounce back!

Kiss & Make Up

In July, Hannah Hollis and a team of 8 professional published make up artists, joined the wide variety of stores at Peterborough One. Kiss & Makeup has since become the retail park’s pamper paradise – the ultimate location for those wanting to look and feel their absolute best!

The studio’s experienced MUAs are able to create styles for every occasion, ranging from weddings to glamorous evenings – right through to spook-tacular Halloween looks! Not only will you leave looking like a superstar, but Kiss & Makeup’s variety of beauty treatments, including facials and massages, will have you feeling like one too!

Although the store is currently closed due to the nationwide lockdown, the talented girl gang will see you as soon as it’s safe to do so!

Hebden School of Dance

Finally, in October, Peterborough One saw the arrival of The Hebden School of Dance. Offering a unique atmosphere and state-of-the-art dancing floors, comprised of a large sprung-floor dance area, mirrored walls and ballet barres!

With personable and fully certified instructors, able to teach dancing at all levels – at the studio, budding dancers will be able to sample ballet, acrobatics, street dance, jazz, tap and much more! Whether your focus is technique, flexibility or you’re just looking for a new social experience – you can find it here!

Due to the recent government announcements, in-studio classes are on a temporary hiatus. However, The Hebden School of Dance currently offer a complimentary schedule of pre-recorded and live classes, accessible to all students so that they can continue to pursue their love of dance at home.

Despite the challenges faced in 2020, Peterborough One has been host to a variety of innovative events. In October, we used CGI animation and augmented reality technology to awaken the dead at the retail park, hosting the innovative, socially distanced Halloween event: Zombie Hunt!

This hugely popular spook-tacular activity was followed by The 12 Days of Christmas – an event that once again conveyed the magic through a dozen festive Snapchat lenses, showcasing unique winter-themed cartoon characters. Bursting with Christmas cuteness and £600 in prizes – this merry treasure hunt proved to be a smash hit!

Finally, we ended 2020 with a traditional Santa’s Grotto – albeit with adequate social distancing and mask wearing. While this was ultimately cut short by the ever-evolving coronavirus situation – in the first few weeks of December, Santa and his elves welcomed many guests into his magical grotto!

Alongside our dynamic retail mix – including a very exciting Aldi development, set to open this year – we look forward to resuming our wonderfully vibrant events as the vaccination programme intensifies in the coming months, and COVID-19 restrictions subsequently ease.
