Halloween has grown in popularity in the UK over the years, with consumers spending over £400million on the creepy celebration in 2018. In fact, fright night is now the second biggest party after New Year’s Eve.

Look for a Spooky Book
From 21st October, children and their families can also get involved in an exciting new initiative at Peterborough One. Hunt in the hedges, spy in the stores and peer along the pathways to find hidden Halloween-themed books around the retail park! Simply:
- Find a book at Peterborough One: there will be several hidden in waterproof bags, along with notes explaining the initiative. Take the book home to read and enjoy.
- Once the book has been read, put it back in its bag (along with the note) and re-hide it somewhere in PE1 for other families to find. Or, if you like the book, keep it!
- If you choose to keep the book, simply hide a different one at Peterborough One; either a book you’ve read and enjoyed and no longer want, or a book you’ve recently bought and would like to gift.
- Once you’ve found a book, share a photo of you and your book/s to Peterborough One’s Facebook page.
The aim of Look for a Spooky Book is to encourage children and families to spend time together, and to stimulate children’s interest in reading. The initiative will continue at the retail park after Halloween, with other themes throughout the seasons.
Paul Dunn, Asset Manager at Peterborough One Retail Park, says: “We’re delighted to host another spooktacular event at Peterborough One this Halloween. With creative crafting, spellbinding shows and the introduction of the ‘Look for a Book’ initiative, it’s the perfect opportunity for the whole family to enjoy some educational Halloween high jinks! The arrival of several new and exciting tenants is also imminent; giving even more reason to visit the park throughout the months ahead. Keep an eye on our social media platforms for up-to-date news.”
